Colleges Nursery and Family Centre

Centre Hamilton Rd, Cambridge CB4 2LD, UK – 01223 712168

Colleges Nursery school is a fantastic place and I would recommend it in the warmest terms to anybody. The teachers and staff are experienced, caring and utterly dedicated. They have a real understanding of the age group they work with, and support families in the best possible way. The activities they do are imaginative and ambitious and we are always so impressed by the things our son tells us about: cooking, forest school, crafts, celebrating festivals from many different cultures, etc. The outside space is also really great and has all sorts of different things to do. Our son asks to go to nursery at the weekend sometimes...

Lovely nursery. Staff are friendly and all the children seem happy. They have a good mentality to looking after children which was a primary reason for choosing them for my son. My only issue is that the site is not big enough, in my opinion, for a young child to grow up. With that side, they have done wonders with the space and activities they can do in the site.

Kumon Maths & English

St Augustine Church Hall, Richmond Rd, Cambridge CB4 3PS, UK – 01223 654394

My 7 year old was under achieving at school, we were recommended kumon by a family teacher. Since starting just over two months ago, she's gone from under achieving in every subject to being where she needs to be in every subject. I never thought we'd have such success so quickly. I have also noticed a huge confidence boost when working alone with much more attention to detail. I can highly recommend Kumon with Miss Valentina.

My son started with Kumon West with Valentina about 1.5 years ago and what a transformation, he started when he was in year 1 at school and at that point had a real struggle to focus on anything for any amount of time, not even a minute, he started with Kumon and when he started he couldn’t sit still there either, was throwing pens and rubbers etc all over the room and didn’t want to focus and now through Valentines magic he goes in with his papers, sits down nicely, focuses on his work and comes out when he is all done – he is a changed boy, a total transformation, worth every penny and more, I couldn’t recommend Kumon with Valentina enough… Thanks so much 

Secondary Schools

Chesterton Community College

Gilbert Rd, Cambridge CB4 3NY, UK – 01223 712150

My dd is thriving in this school. She has great pride in it as have her fellow students. There is a broad enrichment program and the national curriculum is delivered in a creative and inspiring way by a strong team of teachers and leaders. There is unusually low staff turnover, which is always a good sign. The school is in the top 100 nationally of non selective schools, and certainly doesn't coast on catchment area. We are lucky to have our dd there.

Hi I don't even go to this school but some of my friends do. They say it is great and I 1000%agree.i go to parkside community collage it is not as good I wish I went to this school.parkside used to be 1st in the county but now it is like 10th and now Chesterton is 1st.i have sooo many reasons for me to go here instead of parkside.if you want to go to this school then go it is the best.enjoy😜

A great school with Dr Michael Catchpool, an excellent headteacher at the helm.

Once attendance letter received, we could attend. The course although boring could have been more hands on got us where we needed to be. The tutors were good and helped explain to others that needed a little extra help, the site was reasonably clean and tidy, shame we had to pay for the parking

La Dante European Cultural Centre

The Lodge, Hawthorn Way, Cambridge CB4 1BT, UK – 01223 315191

La Dante is a great place to learn Italian. The teachers are fantastic; really helpful, committed and approachable. Giulia, the founder, and the administration team are all really helpful and friendly. It's a really friendly and welcoming environment in which to make great progress and have fun learning Italian, with lots of opportunities to get involved in Italian conversation and cultural events. Can't recommend it highly enough!

La Dante in Cambridge is the ideal place for learning Italian. There is such a friendly atmosphere, classes are small and the school takes great care to put the right people together. Our teacher is fantastic and time flies in her lessons. But it's not just the language, we also talk about Italian culture, food!!!!, customs etc. I can only recommend La Dante to people who want to learn Italian.

Private Maths and English Tuition Centre - Excelr8 Learning Cambridge North

20 Orwell House, Cowley Road, Cambridge CB4 0PP, UK – 01223 429923

My son & daughter have been attending ExcelR8 in Hardwick for a couple of years now. Over that time, we have seen a significant improvement in both their grasp of Maths and English, and their appetite for learning. This has built their confidence, and from being middle achievers, they are now both performing well above expected standards, as assessed by their respective schools. I write this with mixed feelings, as my socialist leanings don't sit well with what I perceive as giving my children an advantage through financial outlay, and I certainly don't dismiss the massive contribution made by the state school teachers, but ... "the proof of the pudding is in the eating". I believe the reason it works so well is that understanding of key principles and strategies is independently checked, and any confusion or gaps quickly addressed, which enables further knowledge to be built on firm foundations. In addition, the high ratio of tutors to pupils allows for a detailed picture of your child's development to be gained, and this is shared with you, the parent, for reinforcement at home. I would thoroughly recommend ExcelR8 - at least your money is unlikely to be wasted ...
