Dental Surgeries - both Private and NHS

Hurst Park Dental Practice

2A Hurst Park Ave, Cambridge CB4 2AE, UK – 01223 356765

I had to have quite a lot of dentistry work in 2013. Loose and broken bridges needed to be replaced. Stephen was able to replace the bridges by putting in implants. The temporary dentures were amazing but the implants are brilliant. You cannot tell the difference between the implanted teeth and my real teeth. The colour match is unbelievable. There was no discomfort during the treatment or the healing process. My implants are stillI serving me well. No problems what-so-ever. I cannot praise Stephen highly enough for the standard of his work.....and he plays really good music in the surgery while you are in the chair.

I was referred to the endodontic specialist at Hurst Park Dental Practice with a severe root infection, after having received root canal treatment at a different Dental Practice. Although the delay in referral by my previous dentist had exacerbated the condition, Hurst Park dealt with the problem efficiently, painlessly and effectively. They saved my tooth! What more can I say except a very heartfelt thank you. I would definitely recomment Hurst Park Dental Practice.

Histon Dental Surgery

66 Station Rd, Histon, Cambridge CB24 9LF, UK – 01223 236799

I have always had great service and treatment at Histon Dental Surgery. Dr Healy has recently fitted two crowns and I am very satisfied with what he has done.

I have been attending this surgery for several years. I can often get an appointment quite soon after I call. I am very satisfied with the work done. They have not tried to 'sell' me expensive treatments.

Most useful NHS dental surgery search. Not only can you find dental practices in the Cambridge area or Cambridgeshire but you can see all the services that they provide and often their patient ratings.

Doctors serving the Cambridge area

Arbury Surgery

114 Arbury Rd, Cambridge CB4 2JG, UK – 01223 364433

Dr Fisher made a procedure that I was dreading as pain free as possible and was so kind and caring afterwards, making sure that I was okay. I cannot commend her enough. This is how GPs should be! She's a model for how to get it right!

A excellent dedicated group of doctors, nurses also employee's. The practice put forward a first class service to the patients.

Cambridge City Physiotherapy Clinic

I can highly recommend Karen White. She has helped me recover from ITBS and has given me good advice on how to prevent the injury recurring. Hopefully I won't need to see her again for a while but if I do need to see a physio again I would go back to her again.

Hearing Healthcare Centre

140 High St, Cambridge CB4 1NW, UK – 01223 360700

What could be a cold and uncomfortable process (as it normally tends to be with these things) has been made into a warm and very comfortable experience. I was welcomed warmly by Luke and assessed by Dan on a Friday afternoon after a long week and they really made my afternoon with their hospitality and demeanour. Thanks guys, if I have any further issues I know where to go! :)

The Hearing Healthcare Centre are excellent, my ears are now clear and my hearing has comeback! Everyone is very freindly and professional from the moment you go through the door, I would highly recommend a visit if your ears and hearing needs a checkup.

I just love the smell of spices when you open the door and walk into the shop. It immediately makes you think of lovely food from all around the world! That's something I look forward to every time I visit. I do try not to come too often, because I always end up spending more than I planned. This is the shop I go to when I need some special ingredients, when I need good quality spices in bigger packs than you would get in supermarkets, when i need Gluten Free stuff, it's the cheapest place for good quality coconut oil, I come to buy bigger bags of raisins or other dried fruit (and they have most of them without the sulphur as well and the normal ones)bigger bags of nuts and seeds and al the stuff you can't get anywhere else. If I ever move away from Cambridge, this is the one shop that I would miss the most!

Generally very good health shop but i personally miss EU agriculture

Hospices for Children and Adults

East Anglia's Children's Hospices

171-173 Histon Rd, Cambridge CB4 3JD, UK – 01223 363695

If you think it's over-priced, tell them why you're not buying. Some people are a bit dense, unless you (figuratively) hit them on the head with it. I only donate but they take most items, including electrical, which is useful. Not audio or VHS tapes though. What they can't sell in the shop, they sell online or dispose of.

A fabulous charity shop for the serial charity shopper. Excellent on crockery and women's clothes. Well organized and friendly. Often VERY overpriced if there's anything special about the item. But still worth a regular checking out. Bonus - park at Aldi/Iceland, save ££ shopping there, come spend saving here.

Rowlands Pharmacy

189 Histon Road, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB4 3HL, UK – 01223 368537

Wonderful people working here, very helpful, great prices. Weelchair axcesable.

Easy to set up repeat prescriptions.

LloydsPharmacy

46-47 Arbury Rd, Cambridge CB4 2JQ, UK – 01223 351349

I think all the other reviews are most unkind. Bearing in mind that they service Arbury Road Surgery, one of the busiest GP pratices in the city is it any wonder that they are so busy and I think they cope admirably with some sometimes 'less than polite' customers. Get your repeat prescriptions in early people - it's not rocket science! As for emergency stuff I've always found them very good and very caring.

Bramley Court Care Home

Chivers Way, Histon, Cambridge CB24 9AH, UK – 01223 236105

I started working as the Maintenance Manager at Bramley Court Care Home in May 2017 and do not have a single regret. A beautiful Care Home with lots of activities. I now know why they call Bramley Court a big family. From all residents to all workers, we all feel like a big family. We have a laugh and enjoy our work. I certainly feel that I will work with this big family until I retire.

Bramley Court has become an extension of our family. My Father had to start living there very suddenly, which was incredibly traumatic for my Mother who had cared for him exquisitely for years, and us all as we felt he had been ripped out of our lives. But that wasn't so. With time and lots of conversations with the lovely staff there, it has become a new place to form treasured memories. I can also highly recommend a massage from Amy who works there!!

Midfield Lodge Care Home

Cambridge Rd, Oakington, Cambridge CB24 3BG, UK – 01223 664262

My Dad had 3 months at Midfield, the care & kindness he received was brilliant, no matter what time of day we visited it was always clean & tidy and Dad was always happy which meant so much.We will be forever grateful

Great care in the week . Weekend care slow , but no different from Addendrookes hospital . Seems to be no one really in charge at weekend .But, only 2 weeks in . called this afternoon to check whether they had wifi , they don't . thought it might be a cheering up thing to bring laptop in to show pics, of grandchildren . have to get a dongle to do that . Not everyone in there has dementia , wifi would be a good thing for Midfield to have . clients could then keep in touch by e mail . cannot really comment on food but gather they will cook what your parent/partner /husband/wife would like if they are not happy with what is presented to them . well worth a look . If your poorly person qualifies for Continuing Healthcare Funding then Midfield Lodge do not ask for any top up from you . They will still have to be assessed after 3 months but that is 3 months for you to hope for more recovery . Good luck on your hunting , mine field out there .

Physic

76 Gilbert Rd, Cambridge CB4 3PD, UK – 01223 237459

Away from home and carrying out some particularly repetitive physical work I was in agony with shoulders and had numbness going into both arms. I needed a massage to loosen me up to see me through the rest of the week. I am not new to sports massage and so know it's a) not normally a pleasant experience and b) not a quick fix. I looked at those local to where I was staying and this place had good reviews. Don't be put off by the fact it is a residential address as the treatment room(s) are every bit as professional as those you would find at a centre or unit. I was a bit nervous as I usually see a woman therapist when I'm at home and this was a guy so I was a little uneasy but I didn't need to be and in fact I wish he was local to me as I would definitely see him again - I saw Mike, there are several therapists. I felt completely at ease and could tell he knew his stuff and if I'm honest probably has a bit more strength behind him than my usual therapist. I paid £42 for an hour and it was worth every penny. I'm not suddenly better and I'm sore from the treatment but I know already I am looser and will feel the benefit tomorrow!!

Roger has sorted my husbands back out after docs just giving pain killers which are not much use when your back has locked up. We have used Rodger for over 20 years now when he first started off in his front room at Oakington. He is a very pleasant man who believes in going in hard with his treatment but when you are in agony it is better to go this way rather than several soft appointments. If you have a bad back Roger is your man. Thank you Roger please don't ever go into full retirement

Spinal Physio

124 Gilbert Rd, Cambridge CB4 3PD, UK – 01223 350622

I have been using Kevin as my physio since pretty well the first week he opened - which must be going on over ten years now. He is exceptional. There are very few physios, in my rather long and painful experience, who have the holy triumvirate of: osteopathic, physio and trigger point needling (aka western acupuncture...) skills. Kevin knows how to use them all if you wish him to. He's like a miracle worker. I feel slightly ambivalent about posting a review as it might encourage others to go to see him and then I'm going to have difficulty getting an appointment. Ah well. Must be altruistic about these things.

Having just found out from an MRI scan that i had a prolapse spinal disc, my company nurse advised me to seek physio. Though the clinic is 45 mins drive for me i'm glad i choose these guys. Professional and friendly and give good advice. well worth a visit.

Aromatherapists around Cambridge

Jennie Hart Aromatherapy

33 New Rd, Impington, Cambridge CB24 9LU, UK – 07841 197783

I have had two different treatments with Jennie; a facial and a massage. The location is great and Jennie is welcoming and explains the whole process beforehand. Unlike your standard beauty salon, this doesn't eat into your massage time which is fantastic, because it means you get the entire massage or facial time, for just that. The experience is just sublime - you come out feeling relaxed and content. Furthermore, Jennie's prices are really reasonable. I can't recommend Jennie enough and am very glad I found her in the area! My next massage is already booked.

I had a really lovely 60-minute full body massage. The room was beautiful and I was warm and cosy at all times. It all felt very luxurious and Jennie was knowledgeable and professional and very friendly. I had a lovely time ... My skin felt amazing afterwards and I will definitely return :)

Spritely Osteopathy

Spritely Osteopathy, Unit 23, Science Park Innovation Centre, Milton Road, Milton, Cambridge CB4 0EY, UK – 07527 583183

I've been seeing Melissa at Spritely Osteopathy for a number of years now and I can't recommend her highly enough. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has seen me through a range of running niggles and managed to get me up and about again as quickly as possible. She has also armed me with a range of stretches to avoid recurrence of certain injuries (my ITB issue has never reappeared) and I've recommended her to a number of friends who have also all become regular clients. A great, knowledgeable osteopath.

Melissa is an excellent osteopath with good scientific knowledge, pedagogical explanations and a brilliant sense of humour. Much recommended.

Thierry Clerc - Homeopath & Metabolic Balance Nutritionist

116 Ramsden Square, Cambridge CB4 2BL, UK – 01223 655300

I am more than pleased to have engaged in your Thierry Clerc's Metabolic Balance Program. Having met with you earlier this year and investigated the art of helping me to lose weight I decided to employ your course of action. I must say I was amazed by simply putting together a program based upon my blood sample that would actually work. I stand here today extremely happy to have hit my target to shed 35lbs in three months. All without ever being hungry. I have never in my life been on a diet but conversely the eating plan you developed for me was spot on and frankly I was a bit skeptical at the start. But your plan for me came up trumps and I now have a plan for life. My body feels extremely Better and Healthier. I will not hesitate to continue to recommend your services in the future. Thank you for your great work and timely performance

I initially came to see Mr Clerc about 8 or 9 years ago when I suffered from a severe illness. His approach, based on nutrition and re-balancing the body's ability to heal and function, has greatly helped me. I still come and see him about once or twice a year when I visit my family in Cambridge. I feel that this helps me to stay healthy and well.

Cambridge Homebrew

1a Arbury Rd, Cambridge CB4 2JB, UK – 01223 660685

Excellent stock and kit, had exactly what I wanted. Even managed to pick up some extra supplies I wasn’t expecting them to have.

Good little shop. Offer pretty much everything you need to get started at a VERY decent price. I'm new to homebrew and I didn't know what I was doing and the owner was extremely helpful - even messaging me from his holiday with advice. I totted up everything I needed from an couple of online shops and it came to £60 - I walked out of Cambridge Homebrew only paying £48, plus a couple of extras thrown in! Definitely worth the trip.

Mrs. MacLeod literally changed my life. Unlike pretty much every physio I'd encountered before, she took the time to listen and properly diagnose me, then give me the treatment I needed. I no longer walk with a cane, which is down to her, and I have a much better understanding of how to manage my ongoing condition. I would - and have! - recommend her whole-heartedly to anyone who needs good physiotherapy care.

Met Lesley for a routine upper body sports massage. Very good understanding of posture and problems related to that (thanks for the tip/observations). Very active during massage, nice conversation. Felt extremely tired through the day which was a sign of the pressure being released from the different pressure points. When I woke up the next day, I was feeling good and completely fresh. Will definitely go back for another massage and will recommend Lesley to others, friends and colleagues.

Psychiatrists serving CB4

CPFT Psychological Wellbeing Service (IAPT)

Chesterton Medical Centre, Union Lane, Cambridge CB4 1PX, UK – 0300 300 0055

I am an employee of CPFT and am in clinic at Chesterton Medical Centre for two days a week. It's a wonderful team to work for, with supportive, skillful colleagues. There is a true level of investment in their staff; encouragement for us to advance our skills, recognition, fairness and fun as well. It is a difficult field to work in sometimes, but having a supportive team or highly skilled professionals really helps. Everyone is passionate about their job and helping their patients achieve the therapeutic outcomes they desire. The building at Chesterton is large, with a lot of very nice therapy rooms, and ample parking for staff and visitors.

I work for the service and have confidence in my colleagues and the CBT process. If you are accessing this site I suspect that something is not quite how you would like it to be. If that is the case a self referral is a simple process that can find out if we can offer you something that could be helpful. We'd like to and we are good at it.

Reflexology around Cambridge

Reflexology Health Cambridge

77 Tavistock Rd, Cambridge CB4 3NB, UK – 07852 479154

As a parent of three small kids I've been struggling to sleep well or find much time to rest. I've not really considered Reflexology before but had heard good things about it recently so thought I'd give it a go and as Lotus is someone I know I thought I'd put my trust in her. To be honest I did not expect the treatment to be as good as it was. Lotus created an atmosphere of calm and serenity that was really comfortable, even luxurious! the treatment was really relaxing, and I fell into a lovely deep meditative state without actually falling asleep. Lotus really knew her stuff, explaining what she working on and what to expect as as she went along, but without breaking the serenity. I felt very restored after the session and will make this a regular monthly visit from now on. Really very good.

Having reflexology treatments from Lotus was an extremely relaxing experience. I always slept well after each treatment and the sessions also reduced my stress levels and the negative effect this was having on my health. Lotus is a knowledgeable reflexologist who provides a calming and relaxing environment for her clients and I would happily recommend her to anyone.
