Holiday Inn Cambridge

Lakeview, Bridge Rd, Impington, Cambridge CB24 9PH, UK – 0871 942 9015

Great Hotel rooms are nice and spacious breakfast is amazing you can take away drinks. Kids loved the pancake maker. Staff very friendly. Bar snacks were very good so much so we ordered more. We didn't have time to use the swimming pool this time. But the kids used it last time and loved it. It's just a taxi ride into Cambridge which was just over £11. Had a great time we will be back

Stayed as a couple for one night to visit family and an old favourite restaurant. Check-in was friendly and efficient. Rooms were dated but clean. The bed was a bit soft and seems like a replacement is due. Not a big fan of the rubber bath mat and plastic shower curtain combo, no matter what class of hotel you stay in. Very polite and friendly gentleman working in housekeeping who has worked there for 16 years came to apologise for not stocking conditioner, which was a nice personal touch after we asked the front desk for some, having forgotten to pack some. The gym was usable - whilst better than many other hotel “gyms”, the functional and weights area a bit lacking for a gym which advertises itself as a “health club”. No racks for either bench pressing or squats so you’re limited to dumbbell workouts and the usual resistance machines in a cramped area. The pool was large, heated and pleasantly quiet at 5pm on a Saturday. Sauna was fine - compact, and hot. Convenient location if you’re travelling by car with plenty of parking but wouldn’t recommend it without one as it’s quite outside Cambridge city centre. A satisfactory stay with satisfactory fitness and leisure facilities. The room rate was just right and lifts it to 4* - £100 / night, making it reasonable value for money.

Travelodge Cambridge Orchard Park

Chieftain Way, Orchard Park, Kings Hedges Road, Cambridge CB4 2WR, UK – 0871 984 6481

At the time of review this is a relatively new build. The rooms are more compact than usual but clean and with all the features you expect. The hotel has the advantage of a bar/restaurant that serves breakfast from 8am and evening meals until about 9pm. A bonus for cyclists is that you can take your bike into your room and the lift is big enough for a bike too! A few minutes ride from Cambridge North Station and close to the guided bus route.

Booked in well at reception and slept ok. Lady on reception in the morning completely ignored me and did not say Good morning. Breakfast starts at 6 as a buffet style but not many takers as I went down around 6.30 but it was all dried up. Mushrooms where that dry it was in edible.

The Railway Vue Pub

163 Station Rd, Impington, Cambridge CB24 9NP, UK – 01223 232426

Great food. Only small so best check if they can fit u in. Loved it. Lovely helpful staff. Nice place and car parking.

Nice for workday lunches (especially the ribs and burger) but disappointing Sunday roast (belly of pork was very sloppy with no cracking what soever). Beer kept nicely, with helpful staff. Nicely decorated inside and out.

The Old Spring

1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, UK – 01223 357228

Nice tucked away local pub but in the heart of Cambridge. Good range of drinks. Food homemade and relatively inexpensive. Made a bad choice (the rarebit was a bit overcooked and expensive for what it was) but everyone else was pleased with their choices. Would definitely return.

Delicious food, great selection of meals for all tastes, even at lunchtime & huge portions! Couldn't decide what to choose! Short walk into city centre, nice, quiet location. Has outdoor area to sit on nice days. Friendly, speedy service. Nice, clean restaurant.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
