Cyclestreets.net is a brilliant little website for bicyclists. Just enter where you are and where you want to go and it will take you a proper cyclists route, tell you the distance, how quiet or otherwiseit will be and how many calories you will burn completing it.
This is extraordinary. You can actually choose a route to avoid unnecessary hills. Excellent for the part-time cyclist!

Bicycle Shops or Bicycle Accessories Outlets or Cycle Repairers

Johns Bikes

3 Arbury Rd, Cambridge CB4 2JQ, UK – 01223 353573

Nice and friendly bike repair shop. Reasonable price as well

Good local place to go. The guy, I assume his name is John, knows his stuff and very friendly. Same day repair on a broken spoke. Reasonable price too. Recommend over your chain shop any day.

Chris's Bikes

2 Thornton Way, Girton, Cambridge CB3 0NJ, UK – 01223 276004

Great service by a knowledgeable expert. I bought a new bike here and Chris sussed out my requirements and recommended a Fahrradverkehr bicycle. I've been using it day in day out for the last 2 years now and it hasn't let me down yet. Other sellers would have tried to sell me a needlessly expensive thing, Chris got me exactly what I needed.

Much better service and price than other establishments around Cambridge. Bike repaired there and then. Definitely worthy of 5 stars.

Rutland Cycling - Histon

9 High St, Histon, Cambridge CB24 9JD, UK – 01223 232182

I was on my way to Luxembourg and having hit Cambridge the bearing in my free hub body had completely disintegrated. As soon as I walked into he store the staff were all welcoming and empathetic. Rob took on the job and spent two hours trying to fix it, not an easy job! He didn't have the right bearings in stock so he contacted all his local stores to see if any did. he managed to find one which did and drove down to pick it up. I was on the road within two hours. Haven't received better customers anywhere and am extremely grateful to Rob and the team!

Great survive and really friendly (non pushy) staff who really seem to know there stuff. I ended up buying my kids bikes from here and got the same level as surface as my state of the art road bike. Keep up the good work.

Cycle Hire

Outspoken Cycles

The Bike Depot, 140 Cowley Rd, Cambridge CB4 0DL, UK – 01223 789606

Hired a Dutch cargo bike for a week from these guys - it was very reasonably priced and they were super-helpful. I even had a bit of a crash on the last day (thanks to a driver pulling out without looking) and they were much more concerned about my safety than about the bike. All told, really impressed with the service I received and would recommend.

Great value bike service (I paid £30 for a 6-month "silver" service) - got my road bike back to tip-top condition. Friendly and helpful staff.
